Easy Data Protection Compliance Guide
for Self-Employed, Sole Traders, Freelancers & SMEs/SMBs.
This guide was launched in 2020. It is aimed at small to medium enterprises and businesses, sole traders, self-employed and freelancers working in the UK and Northern Ireland.
Most of us are using personal data within our businesses, but do we get it right? If someone questions you about the data you hold, about GDPR, or your Data Protection Policies, do you feel confident that you’re compliant?
Emily has spent a large proportion of her lockdown creating this guide (thank you Covid-19!). As the sole director of RMGirl Consulting, Emily is very familiar with the world of self-employment, and this is a guide is for a self-employed person made by a self-employed person.
Every day we interact with self-employed people, and every day they process personal data without realising the implications. This guide is to take the scare factor out of running a business. I’m not here to shout about fines or to scare people into compliance. This is a gentle and easy guide.
Just because you don’t do anything with the personal data yourself, doesn’t mean you are exempt from data protection. All the apps and products you use will process data and you’re responsible for being transparent about it. This guide won’t tell you that you can’t do something, it just tells you that if you’re doing it, you need to say so.
You won’t find a guide like this anywhere else.
